The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) that had implemented the odd-even number system after the instruction from the Ministry of Home Affairs, has withdrawn the system also at the Ministry’s direction.
The MTPD had imposed the odd-even number system in view of the effective traffic management for the VVIPs coming Kathmandu having a total of 2014-KM road where more than 1 million vehicles ply in the roads of Valley on a daily basis, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) at MTPD, Basanta Kumar Panta.
The Asia Pacific Summit is being held in Kathmandu from November 19-December 2.
Enforcement of the odd-even number system has drawn widespread criticism from the members of public due to the inconvenience caused to them in their vehicular movement for daily work.
