

19 Feb, Kathmandu- Rastriya Prajatantra Party (United) chair Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani has said people are superior in the democratic system and the government should be responsible towards them.
In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 69th Democracy Day today, he has wished all the Nepalis at home and abroad peace, prosperity and happiness, highlighting the significance of Democracy Day which marks the beginning of the establishment of a ruling system based democracy norms and values in the country. Through a press statement, the former minister underlined the need of the guarantee of rule of law, periodic election, independent judiciary, total press freedom and the human rights and promotion of these special issues, protecting the people’s rights.
Another chair of the party Pashupati Shamser JB Rana said the party is all committed to the people’s rights and the government should ensure the citizen’s human rights, social justice for them, their security; and good governance in the democratic system.
Fagun 7 every year in the Nepali Calendar is observed as the Democracy Day as it was on this very day in 2007 BS that the democratic system was established in the country with an end to the 104-year-old Rana autocracy.
