11 April, Kohalpur – Students associated to Nepal Student Union (NSU) padlocked the central office of Sudurpaschim University at Bhimduttanagar in Kanchanpur for an indefinite period. NSU resorted to lock up the university office regarding the appointment of Vice-Chancellor. Kailash Chand, coordinator of NSU Sudurpaschim University central committee. He further clarified that they had padlocked the office to protest the appointment of two VCs in the university which held the academic institution a captive of indecision. “We come to agitation when Prof Purna Bahadur Chand was designated as acting VC when sitting VC Purna Bahadur Shrestha’ tenure was yet to complete”, NSU said. “It has undermined the independence of the university and spirit of the law and rule. Our protest is to correct such wrongdoings. NSU leader Chand noted. NSU also said that it would not let up its struggle until the correction of the decision to that end.
