11 April, Kanchanpur- As the date for the local level elections closes in, resignation by school principals to take part in the elections continues unabated.
Madhu Bohara – principal of Kalika Secondary School in Shuklaphanta Municipality – 4 – has resigned to file candidacy for the post of deputy mayor of the municipality. Bohara said she resigned to impart a message that women too can take leadership and move forward.
Bohara has already launched herself into the election campaign with the hope of winning the ticket from Nepali Congress. She plans to streamline the management in the education sector, make health services reliable and facilitate transportation and communications services.
The school principal who is running in the election for the first time says she will remain active in the social work even the party does not select her as its candidate. Toya Prasad Sharma, another school principal, has also resigned to run for the post of Purnabash Municipality’s mayor.
