3 May, Mahottari-Hundreds of patients visiting the Mahottari’s district headquarters of Jaleshwor have been affected from a dysfunctional x-ray machine.
The machine broke down five months ago, but the concerned authorities have not heeded to the need to fix it on time and relieve the patients of unwarranted trouble.
The employees overseeing the machine say the x-ray machine – which cost Rs 3.5 million – will take Rs 200,000 to Rs 300,000 for repair. They accuse the Jaleshwor Hospital management and the District Health Office of neglecting their repeated call for repairing the machine.
Jaleshwor Hospital treats hundreds of patients every day. At least 50 patients need to undergo x-ray for different parts of their body. Many are forced to seek the service elsewhere as the x-ray machine at the hospital barely works to scan the hands, legs and chest.
Meanwhile, District Health Office Chief and Jaleshwor Hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr Nagendra Prasad Yadav, vowed to repair the x-ray machine within the next 15 to 20 days.
