8 Sept, Jumla : An amount of Rs 2.9 in cash and property has been collected at the ‘Bishwakalyan kotihom mahayagna’, a grand religious ceremony, held from August 22 to September 6 in the district.
The kotihom was organized at Tila Tribeni of Tila Rural Municipality. Local devotees and philanthropists donated Rs 2.34 million in cash and plot of land on the occasion, chairman of the Mahayagya Main Organizing Committee, Gorakh Bahadur Shahi, said.
Shahi said although the amount collected from the offerings was not sufficient for construction of various structures at Tribenidham, the kotihom rituals have projected theplace as an important site for religious tourism.
Committee general secretary Shantinath Yogi said seven individuals donated land plots in the kotihom. They include Harilal Shahi, Jaya Shahi, Aja Bahadur Shahi, Dalbir Shahi, Muniram Sunar, Lal Bahadur Shahi and Sher Bahadur Shahi
