22 Oct, Tokyo, Japan : The Nepali community residing in Japan for various purposes celebrated the Bhaitika, the concluding but the most important day of the five-day Tihar festival, Saturday with much fanfare.
They gathered at approachable locations in Tokyo to observe the festival en-masse. The Nepali community here also organised the Deusi Bhailo programmes on the occasion of the Tihar. Sisters offered tika to their brothers wishing for longevity and prosperity, while brothers in return gave daskhina (cash offerings) and other gifts to their sisters, giving the message of unity in diversity.
Bhaitika, the special moment of Tihar festival, was observed here at the auspicious hour 11:51 am (Nepali time) as in Nepal or 3: 05 pm (local time).
According to the Nepal Calendar Fixation Committee, this year the auspicious hour for the Bhaitika was 11:51 am.
The Chitwan Society, Tokyo on Friday organised the Deusi Bhailo programme at Shin-Okubo, Tokyo which captured the attention of the Japanese people as well.
