Kathmandu, Nov 25 (RSS): So far 48 cases of violation of election code of conduct have taken place in the mass media since the beginning of the election silent period, the Press Council Nepal reported.
Such a number of incidents of the violation of election code of conduct was found in various 24 media houses — 24 in 11 print media, four each in three radio stations, five in four television channels and 15 in six online media.
Those media houses were found disseminating the election related public programmes of political parties and candidates and carrying advertisements of political parties and their candidacies in the silent period, violating the discipline of this special time. The Council has already dispatched a letter to those media houses to be serious towards the code of ethics.
The silent period for the first phase of elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies scheduled for tomorrow has been in effect since midnight of November 22.
