19 Feb, Kathmandu : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) should be institutionalized as the most progressive news agency.
In a message given today on the occasion of the 57th establishment day of the country’s only news agency, the PM has asked to get established as the forward-looking news agency through the use of new technology to ensure changes in the news priority and style in the changed context.
PM Oli has also assured positive supports on behalf of the government for such endeavours of the RSS.
The PM said that mission journalism continued in the party-less Panchayat regime as the press freedom was limited for long after the Panchayat regime snatched the people’s right to freedom. The PM noted the contributions of such mission journalism in achieving the political rights in the country.
He added that the phase of political struggle was over with the promulgation of constitution through the Constituent Assembly (CA).
The PM further added that the political transitional phase was also completed with the completion of three-tier of elections. “Therefore, the future journey of the State is of development and prosperity. To achieve such primary goals, media has an important role and the RSS will also play the leading role for the same, I hope”, the Prime Minister said.
