21 Feb, Nagarkot, Bhaktapur: In a symbolic bid for justice, the Sociology Studies Centre, Bhaktapur handed scales to deputy mayors of the four municipalities of the district.
The handing of the scales marked Law Day on Tuesday. The scales were given to deputy mayors of the municipalities including Madyapur Thimi, Suryabinayak and Changunarayan who are, according to the new constitution, chief of quasi judicial bodies in a symbolic way to encourage them to deliver justice impartially, said Chief Judge of Bhaktapur District Court Bhoj Raj Sharma.
Sharma was speaking at the event. He also stressed the need for the deputy mayors of the municipalities to act responsibly as chief of quasi judicial bodies.
In return, the deputy mayors pledged to carry out their work impartially as chief of quasi judicial bodies.
