May 15. The global toll from Covid-19 has passed 300,000 late on Thursday night, with nearly 4.5 million people infected.
According to data collected by Johns Hopkins University in the United States, more than 303,074 people have now died as a result of the outbreak.
The Baltimore-based institution says it has counted 4,524,679 confirmed cases worldwide.
Researchers point out that the actual death toll is far higher than the tally compiled from government figures.
