22 Oct, Kathmandu- The Nepali Congress has witnessed intense debate within the party regarding the impeachment motion registered at Parliament against Chief Commissioner at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Lokman Singh Karki.
Most of the NC central leaders attending a meeting at NC Central Office, Sanepa, suggested the leadership taking a wise decision on impeachment motion as it has become an issue creating huge ripples in the country.
Most of the leaders were in favour of the impeachment motion, urging party favour the motion while some others voiced against it. Some of them also suggested finding a middle path.
Likewise, some central members at the meeting vented anger for filing the impeachment motion without consulting the biggest party in Legislature-Parliament.
A total of 17 NC central members put their view at the meeting.
Talking to National News Agency (RSS), Central Member Pradip Poudel said the impeachment issue could create a national effect. “It could also create a political polarisation. So it should be settled through consensus,” he said.
Another Central Member Kamala Panta said that a decision should be taken after garnering view from the CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) as they brought the impeachment motion without holding discussion with the Nepali Congress, the largest party in the parliament.
Speaking in the meeting were Prakashman Singh, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Pharmulla Mansoor, Man Bahadur Bishworkarma, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Navindra Raj Joshi, NP Saud, Dr Shekhar Koirala, Ananda Prasad Dhungana, Kamala Panta, Ratna Sherchan, Jeevan Pariyar, Pradeep Poudel, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Devendra Raj Kandel, Ramesk Lekhak and Kiran Yadav.
The next NC CC meeting has been scheduled for October 24. RSS
