Muglin – Narayangadh road to remain fully operational

8 May,  Ratnanagar (Chitwan)- The Muglin Narayangadh Road Project will be lifting the partial shutdown of transportation along the road stretch in view of the upcoming local level polls slated for May 14.

Project Engineer, Shiva Khanal, spoke of the decision to keep the road fully operational for 10 days as all the manual workers have taken leaven to head to their home districts for the elections and to facilitate the travel for other voters heading to their regions.

The road stretch is currently under construction and remains shut for six hours a day from 10 am to 4 pm. The work will continue until May 17, according to the Project. Khanal added that 47 per cent of the work has been completed till date.

Around 10,000 vehicles travel through the road on a daily basis, Chitwan’s Police Chief Deepak Thapa said. Last month, two were killed in a dry landslide on the road stretch prompting the local authorities to remain on high alert, according to Thapa.

The World Bank under the Nepal India Regional Trade and Transportation Project is bankrolling the expansion of the road stretch.
