June 2, Galkot,  Former students of the Prithvi Hiranya Secondary School at Amalachaur of Baglung district have raised fund for technically equipping the school.

The former students scattered across the country and abroad actively launched a campaign, raising Rs 3.5 million to support the school. School principal Prem Chapagain informed that with the support of the school alumnus, the school has been made technology friendly.

A multimedia class, modern science laboratory, e-board, computer laboratory have been set up in the school, said Alumni chairman Dr Hemraj Sharma. “It was very difficult for us when we were students. Acute shortage of basic facilities in the school hit hard then.

Now, we want present students reap the benefit of technology in the school,” he observed. Even a revolving fund of Rs 5 million was set up by the former students to ensure digital atmosphere in the school.The interest gained from the revolving fund would be used to repair the computer in the school, said the school. There are 19 computers, 40 e-boards and a multimedia centre in the school.

The school is the model one in the district. In order to ensure smooth classes of technical education, preparation is on to appoint a computer technology teacher, according to the Association. The school running classes up to 12 currently has 388 students.
