28 Nov, Babiyachaur (Myagdi) -More than 60 percent of the construction of the tunnel of Ghalemdi Khola Hydropower Project at Narchyang-1 in Myagdi has been completed, said the project director Ananda Raj Pokhare.
Of the total 1,685 meters long tunnel, 1,025 meters have been dug so far, Pokharel said, adding that the remaining task would be completed within five months.
The project aims to complete within next one year if there is no hindrance to construction works due to various reasons like a lack of manpower and construction materials, he said.
Construction of the embankment and a cannel to the entrance to the tunnel are also underway, he said.
Likewise, processes have moved ahead to purchase machinery materials and equipments for the project, said engineer Pushkar Shrestha. Around 200 workers are engaged in the construction on a daily basis.
Started from 2071 B.S., the five megawatt hydropower project is estimated to cost Rs 850 million. The affected area and local people would be prioritised in the distribution of shares, said the project chief Bimal Rijal. RSS
