8 Dec, Hetauda- Buffalo calf has become the main income source of Chepang people residing in Kankada VDC-4, Devitar – the remote area of Makawanpur district.
The nomadic Chepang community here has generated 12-fold high income from their investment in calf farming in around two years.
Of late, local Chepangs are being attracted to adopt calf farming when they find it a good alternative source of income.
The Chepang people, who had to rely on alternative food sources for no sufficient agriculture yields in the past, now have increased their income level to meet educational expense of their children.
Each household of Chepang community here has up to three buffalo calves. All 25 Chepang households are enrolled in Janaekata Community Forest Users Group. RSS
