3 April, Kathmandu- The CPN (UML) has formed a local poll manifesto draft committee with the party Vice-chairperson Bamdev Gautam as its coordinator.
The standing committee meeting of the party held at the party central office at Dhumrabarahi today decided to form the committee coordinated by Gautam.
The committee comprises party vice chair duo Bhim Rawal and Asta Laxmi Shakya, deputy general secretary duo Bishnu Poudel and Ghanashyam Bhusal, secretary Pradip Gyawali, SC members Shankar Pokharel, Surendra Pandey, Kiran Gurung, central members Binda Pandey, Dr Pushpa Kandel, Lal Babu Pandit, Raghu Bir Mahaseth, Rabindra Adhikari and Lal Babu Yadav.
Similarly, the meeting has formed Local Poll Monitoring and Coordination Committee under the convenorship of general secretary Ishwar Pokharel.
The committee comprises, party secretaries Prithvi Subba Gurung, Pradip Gyawali, Yogesh Bhattarai, leaders Subas Nembang, Chhabi Lal Bishwakarma, Beduram Bhusal, Rajendra Pandey, Raghuji Panta, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Agni Kharel, Banshidhar Mishra, Radha Gyawali, Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Ram Kumari Jhankri.
One election: One Candidate
The new constitution mandates that a candidate could contest in a single election whether it is local level or provincial level or parliamentary.
As per the earlier meeting’s decision, the ward committees should send the nomination for candidate by April 13, the Committees of the rural municipality, municipality, sub-metropolitan city and metropolitan city by April 17, the district committee by April 20 and the provincial committee by April 23.
According to UML’s secretary and chief of the Publicity Department Yogesh Bhattarai, the meeting of the UML’s standing committee will hold a meeting on April 25 and decide on the candidates.
The UML’s central committee is holding a meeting on April 16 in connection to the election preparation.
