19 Oct, LUXEMBOURG- Belgium’s region of Wallonia has until an EU leaders summit on Friday to agree to an EU-Canada free trade deal it has so far blocked, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstroem said.
“Yes there has to be an agreement. Our Canadian friends need to know whether they should book their ticket or not,” she said when asked if the Brussels summit was the deadline for all 28 states including Belgium to sign up to the deal.
Speaking after trade minister talks in Luxembourg, she added that without an agreement at the summit a planned visit by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to sign the deal at the end of October would not go ahead. (AFP)
