26 Oct, Kathmandu-Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has directed the Department of Immigration ( DoI) for further systematization of its activities and reforms in the entire immigration system.

In his directives to the immigration employees following on-site inspection to the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport today, he insisted on the need of reforms at immigration sector as the immigration issues were the first concerns of any foreigner entering the country. “The very first experience of any visitor here from abroad carries a significant meaning and if her/his such experience turns out not to be good, the second visit is not expected,” the Home Minister said, adding that s/he could advise her/his colleagues not to visit Nepal. He urged immigration officials to keep this matter in mind while on duty and work seriously. He took a time to share that the Ministry had got a proposal for celebrating the upcoming year as the ‘immigration year’ and the ministry was ready to take a positive decision regarding the proposal.
On the occasion, the Minister was accompanied by Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai who pledged management of sufficient resources for the office, underscoring the need of further reforms in this field.
DOI Director General Eshor Raj Poudel apprised the minister that works relating to the installment of a new software were going on to further sustematise the immigration system. —
