23 Jan Kathmandu- Indigenous Tharu Legal Practitioners Society has voiced concern over the recommendation made by the Judicial Council in filling the vacant positions of judges in High Courts.
The statement issued by the Society Chairman Bhagawat Prasad Chaudhary on Sunday, said recommending only one lawyer to the position from Tharu community, which accounts for the fourth largest population group of the country, is against the spirit of the constitution.
Through the statement, the Society demanded correction on the recommendation urging for incorporating least four lawyers to the position from Tharu community as per the constitution.
