30 Jan,Kathmandu : The second session of Legislature-Parliament today endorsed the Election (Crime and Punishment) Bill-2073 BS.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bimalendra Nidhi presented the bill needed for holding the local poll before the meeting seeking an approval.
Prior to this, taking part in the deliberations on the bill, lawmaker Prem Suwal demanded the provision of a stern action against anyone found involved in committing poll-related crime, hosting a party, promising jobs for the support, offering mobile phone sets and other physical property to supports during the election campaign and causing damage to polling centres.
In response to his voices, DPM Nidhi pledged to bring the violator(s) of election code of conduct to book.
The bill has incorporated suggestions and feedbacks given by the State Affairs Committee in letter to extent and is clear of controlling illegal acts possible before and during the election period.
The next meeting of the Legislature-Parliament will take place at 3 pm on coming Wednesday.RSS
