Dhangadi bans honking in marketplace



16 June, Kanchanpur- The local administration here has declared Dhangadi Bazaar a ‘horn free zone’ in order to reduce sound pollution.

The vehicles plying the area located from Dhangadi Traffic Chauraha to District Police Office, electricity authority in the south to oil corporation in the north have been prohibited from honking their horns, according to Inspector Deepak Patali of Traffic Police Office Kailali.

He said a publicity campaign will be run to inform the people of the ban on vehicle horns and only then will the authorities take legal action against anyone flouting the rule.

The vehicles, however, will be allowed to use their horns under emergency circumstances. In regular conditions, those found to be violating the rule will be slapped a fine ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1500.

The new rule was enforced in Attariya since June 8 and in Dhangadi from Thursday onwards in order to contain sound pollution.
