18 May, Lahan (Siraha)- Government of Nepal is to construct 1,000 houses for dalit, poor and extremely marginalized and disadvantaged communities in the district.

The houses were going to be constructed under the People’s Housing Programme for the fiscal year 2073/74 BS.

According to Milan Acharya, the Chief Officer at the Urban Development and Construction Division Office, Rajbiraj, the meeting held with parliament members and representatives of political parties on Wednesday made this decision which will come into effect soon.

Similarly, such permanent houses will be constructed and handed over to the families of the fire victims as well. It may be noted that 29 houses were destroyed by fire in the district in March this year.

About 25 per cent construction works will be completed in this fiscal year, Acharya added.
