5 Oct,Kathmandu: Balmiki Bidyapith, the Sanskrit Campus, in the capital city celebrated the 132nd birth anniversary of Sanskrit scholar Panditraj Somnath Sigdel who is also the first Principal of the same campus.
The celebration, organized by the Sigdel Bandhu Foundation, recalled the life of times of the scholar who was honoured with ‘Panditraj’ by late King Mahendra for his literary prowess.
At today’s programme, litterateur Bhuwanhari Sigdel mentioned King Mahendra was very much impressed by the intelligence and critical acumen after scholar Sigedel spotted an errata in the stanza of a poem ‘Kaumudi’ penned by Padini in a poets’ conference in the Indian city of Varanasi.
The government of Nepal has already issued a postage stamp on Panditraj Somnath Sigdel. RSS
