8 Nov, Kathmandu-Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara has held discussions with the secretary and the chiefs of departments at the Ministry of Energy regarding the progress of budget implementation.
DPM Mahara today interacted with Ministry officials and directed them to concentrate on budget implementation. Only, 13.81 per cent of the total development budget of the Ministry has been spent so far in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
DPM Mahara directed them to expedite the developmental works. Punya Prasad Regmi, chief economic advisor to the DPM Mahara, shared that the Minister Mahara stressed on ending the trend of spending the budget at the eleventh hour.
The Energy Ministry so far has spent 1.35 per cent of its total development expenditure. After receiving the startling data on it, Mahara directed the officials to stress on power production and distribution.
On the occasion, Secretary Anup Kumar Upadhyay said that the lengthy official process has affected the budget implementation process; however, they were working out for better results. RSS
