PM Dahal pledges to address landless squatters’ issues



8  Feb,Chitwan: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal pledged that the issues of the landless squatters’ across the country would be addressed in a sustainable manner.
PM Dahal made the commitment while addressing the land ownership card to landless squatters organized by CPN-Maoist Center at Maadechaur in Bharatpur Municipality-17 in Chitwan district today.
Stating that policies and programmes relating to the management of landless squatters would be endorsed by the Council of Ministers soon, he recalled the decision of the government during his first stint as the PM, Dahal said that the landless squatters would not be displaced from their current habitat until their resettlement was ensured.
All Nepalis should have a shelter, he asserted, pledging utmost support from his side to secure the welfare of these communities, including ensuring them right to education, health and employment as mandated by the new constitution.
Expressing concerns over the latest political crisis in the country, the PM also urged for cooperation from all quarters to make upcoming three-tier elections a success.
A plot of land sprawling across 11 bigha in Maadechaur registered in the name of Bhagwati Farm Pvt Ltd was taken into possession by then CPN-M in 2001.
The land was yet again recaptured by a group of people led by CPN-Maoist Centre close business person Krishna Prasad Adhikari last year where a total of 156 landless squatters had been habituating the land since then.
Each households were today distributed the land ownership card of 6 dhur piece of land, according to landowner Krishna Prasad Adhikari.
On the occasion, five kattha of the same land was handed over to the concerned body for the establishment of a park and school.
Meanwhile, PM Dahal during his trip to Chitwan also attended a training organized by the CPN-MC, Chitwan Chapter where he instructed the cadres and leaders alike to gear up for all three levels of elections.
PM Dahal underscored the need to increase the acceptability for the new constitution for which he reaffirmed government’s efforts. RSS
